At note about Pink Peruvian Opal

Pink Peruvian Opal is mined manually in the Andes Mountains of Peru and is considered a common opal as opposed to precious opal.  The process involves finding seams of opal within rock formations, often in areas with copper mining.  Due to the difficulty in detecting and extracting it, the production of high quality Pink Peruvian Opal is limited, with only a small percentage of the mined material being suitable for jewelry.  Pink Opal is also mined in Mexico

Pink Opal is a softer stone with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 and care should be taken to avoid steaming, chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.  Use a gentle cloth to wipe down your beads if needed.
