The color of these Noreena Jasper can’t be beat if you love the idea of hiking Sedona, Arizona. The deep red is the color of slot canyons and red rock mountains and beckon this girl to go back to the West to hike the canyon lands. The fact is, however, Noreena Jasper more commonly is found in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, specifically around the Noreena Downs Station. It’s a silicified pelite (mudstone) that’s believed to be 2.7 billion years old. The unique, colorful patterns of Noreena Jasper are revealed when the rock is cut and polished. While it resembles typical red jasper, the color is a bit more brown red then orange red. Â
The “Robin’s Egg” Blue, Kingman Turquoise nugget stands out in the center in contrast to the deep brown red jasper. Some, if not most, of the most beautiful currently mined turquoise comes from Kingman, Arizona. This bead was purchased by me in person at the Kingman Turquoise Mine Store in the summer of 2020 when all the world was quiet. Adding it to this design is an act of love because parting with the few stones I purchased while in Kingman feels like saying good-bye to an old friend, or introducing a friend to their new best friend. May the lucky person who gets to wear this turquoise feel the love radiating from the center of this gorgeous necklace.
