The blue of this Apatite is a vivid neon tropical sea blue.  It can be worn with many colors because the blue will pop out and grab your attention.  The little sterling silver dragonfly front and center if full of whimsy.  The sterling silver lobster clasp finishes this neon strand perfectly and the yellow apatite spaced with peridot add a touch of contrast along the neckline of this sweet necklace.

The natural color of apatite amazes me every time is see it.  The specimen rock I used shows the nature of this remarkable stone.  The mohs harness of apatite is a 5.  It is hard, but somewhat soft making it susceptible to abrasion.  I suggest that it should be worn alone as a statement necklace rather than part of layering.  Your necklace will last and remain beautiful when worn and stored with care.

Dragonfly lore varies around the world. The most common represents the dragonfly as a symbol of change, transformation and connection between worlds.  Bringing luck and deeper understanding of reality, the dragonfly is often linked to water, protection and healing.

Have you ever observed a dragonfly eating? They swoop back and forth about 6 feet above the ground at dusk catching mosquitos!  I know for sure that this is the dragonfly’s super power.  Right before your eyes you can watch it grasp them out of the air in their mouths.  A single adult dragonfly can eat 50 or more mosquitoes a day and dragonfly nymphs, the larval stage, eat about 40 mosquito larvae a day.  How’s that for mosquito population control? I always cheer them on as they fill up on those pesky mosquitos in our backyard.  Along with bats, dragonflies are major mosquito hunters.
