Rhodonite is a pink semiprecious stone that forms in metamorphic rocks when hydrothermal fluids, magma, or hot, mineral-rich water chemically alter cool rocks. These fluids collect silicon, oxygen, and manganese aluminum, which are the ingredients needed to create rhodonite. The majority of rhodonite comes from Menas Gerais, Brazil, but it can also be found in other locations around the world, including California, New Jersey, and Australia.
Rhodonite derives its name from the Greek word “rhodon,” which means “rose,” reflecting its characteristic rose-pink hues.
