Metals:
Stainless steel is durable and will not tarnish if it comes into contact with typical body lotions, perfumes or sunscreens. Wash your stainless steel with a mild cleanser or gently rub with a soft moist cloth. Think of Stainless Steel the way you think of your cookware and medical instruments; it is a very durable and hypoallergenic metal.
Stainless steel spacers may be in between your beads. Take care to be gentle when cleaning in between them so that you don’t pull them apart too widely. This will put pressure on your strand and could cause it to break.
Sterling Silver is a soft metal and will tarnish if left in humidity for too long and with certain moisturizers, lotions and sunscreen. Store your amazing sterling jewelry in a lined jewelry box or cloth bag with your moisture absorbing paper. Take care to clean your sterling silver with a mild cleanser and soft cloth and rinse well. A sterling silver cleaning cloth and moisture absorption paper is provided free with your purchase of a sterling item. Use the cloth on your dry sterling to remove tarnish by gently buffing and rubbing with your thumb and forefinger. You can rub in between the sterling spacers and gemstone beads carefully not to tug when allowing some separation to reach in between the spacer and bead.
Gold Filled is a beautiful, less expensive option than solid gold. Gold filled metal can last a lifetime if you take good care of it. It isn’t affected by water or moist weather, does not tarnish and cleans up easily. Your 14/20 gold filled jewelry is 14 karat gold and the gold is 1/20th or 5% of the total weight of the material. Simply clean with a mild cleanser, rinse well and pat dry. If you have gold filled spacers in between your gemstone beads take care to clean in between without tugging on the strand.
Gemstones:
Carefully wipe down your beads with a damp cloth and a mild cleanser if needed. Take care to gently wipe in between your beads if there is a buildup of sweat or lotion by barely pulling the beads apart from each other. Use a thin cloth, tissue size to go in between your beads. Your gemstone beads are porous, therefore any lotions or oils you put on can be absorbed and with some gemstones cause discoloration. Some gemstones are more porous than others and some have more inclusions which allow moisture to fill into gaps. Your gemstone beads were once rocks before being honed into gorgeous beads or pendants. They are durable and should last forever with love and care.
