Apatite for Lapis and Rhodochrosite Necklace

Necklace #20

Length: 24”

High quality 8mm teal blue Apatite surrounds a beautiful Lapis Lazuli “pillow” focal. A pop of color from Rhodochrosite and two radiant Labradorite stones make this necklace a great statement piece or layering feature. The stainless steel paper clip chain, spacers and clasp are hypoallergenic and tarnish free.

The name Apatite comes from the Greek word apate, which means, “to deceive.” Anthropomorphically speaking, Apatite is said to have deceived by allowing itself to be confused with some of the more valuable gems such as tourmaline, olivine, peridot, topaz and beryl.

Moon rocks brought back to earth by Apollo astronauts in the late 1960s and early 1970s were found to contain traces of apatite. With a Mohs hardness of a near perfect 5, Apatite is fragile and very sensitive to chemicals. To clean your beads use a damp soft cloth to gently rub.
