Adventuring with Green Aventurine Necklace and Earring Set
Necklace & Earring Set #92
Length Necklace 16.5″ can be lengthened with extender, Earrings 2 1/4″
10mm light green Aventurine and Cultured Pearls play well together in this fun chunky necklace and earring set. The necklace can be lengthened at no addition cost with a stainless steel chain. A nice sized stainless lobster clasp, and all stainless steel metals throughout pair well with these casual green globes. This is a really fun statement necklace or one that can be layered with a longer strand of pearls.
Green aventurine forms in both igneous and metamorphic rocks, with its shimmering effect due to inclusions of other minerals like mica. Â These inclusions are responsible for the “aventurescence”, or sparkle, that is characteristic of aventurine.Â
According to Brittanica:
Aventurine, either of two gem minerals, one a plagioclase feldspar and the other quartz. Both have a sparkling reflection from oriented minute inclusions of mica or *hematite.
Most aventurine quartz is *silvery, yellow, reddish brown, or green. Extensive beds in mica schist occur in the Russian Urals. Green aventurine, colored by a chrome mica, has been found in the state of Tamil Nadu (formerly Madras), India; in China; and in Rutland, Vt. Aventurine quartz is used for jewelry, for vases and bowls (sometimes very large), and for other ornamental objects.
*The large Green Aventurine rock seen in the photos is from my collection. You can see the silvery glow and the hematite all in this really cool rock.
